Salma Hayek was born on September 2 1966, in the oil boomtown of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. Her father was a Lebanese businessman and her mother a Mexican-born Opera singer. She became interested in acting after watching 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory". Her movies include:

I had no idea that selma hayek was half Lebanese! Thats very interesting to find out someones origins. I think she is a good actress and was disappointed when she had a minor roll in "Once upon a time in mexico". She is obviously very pretty and very talented, its not a mystery why she is a start!

I think Salma could have landed better roles but the issues are:
1. She was born and raised in Mexico. She has a very strong Spanish accent that limit her only to get certain roles. She used to fight it in the past (she wanted to get other roles than the stereotype ones) but seems like she gave up.
2. She is only 5' 2''. Most Hollywood stars are pretty tall.
