I was having this discussion last night with my husband.
I won't name the company, but in England at the moment, there is a company who produces Mayonnaise, and they are holding a competition to see who can come up with the best home made sandwich. Obviously most people are writing in with ideas involving mayonnaise, but what's your favorite sandwich?
Sorry, I can't offer any prize for this, but nor will I be running off with your ideas to make myself a small fortune
My Husband when I asked him said, Bacon, lettuce, mayonnaise and cheese.
I would have to say though, that I would go for spicy creole sausage, onion, red peppers, mayonnaise, cheese, lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes on white bread. Now that really is a sandwich.
So what's your favorite?
You can use this to win if you like:
1. Thin slices of roasted beef
2. Grilled onions
3. Fresh onions
4. Cheese (two kinds best)
- lay on 1/2 cut foot long buttered bun
- grill all of these in an oven mostly for cheese to melt
5. Add lettuce
6. Tomatoes
- as condiments you can use mayo, a little mustard or seasoned pepper sauce
You can actually enter it too, I would be interested to know if it wins. Most people find having two versions of onions on the same sandwhich unique and it is because grilled and fresh onions both taste different and give a varying texture to the crunch / taste.
Hi JB, I'll look into entering the competition with your recipe, thanks.
I don't know how long off the closing date it is, but if I hear anything back you'll be the first to know!
Best wishes, Diane.
Mmm, I like LDS's idea of grilled chicken. To that I would add swiss cheese, lettuce, green peppers and onions (grilled or fresh taste great - I've never had both together!) and a mix of mayonnaise and musturd. Then of course it must be toasted(before the lettuce is added), that is one thing I love about Quiznos sandwiches .
