Apart from my Daughter who has coeliac disease, and has to watch what she eats (which I won't bore you with, as it's under another thread)
My eldest Son has an allergy to honey, which started when he was about 14. I don't know why this should flare up at this age, but it makes it very hard when we are eating out, as that's now 3 in our family with food allergies/intolerances!
When I go shopping, it takes absolutely ages, as there are now about 30 food ingredients that aren't allowed to be on our 'shopping list'.
I started this thread up to see what other food allergies other children had, and would love to hear back how or what the parents do to make sure that the 'wrong' foods aren't being eaten by their kids!

My youngest shows since of milk intolerance so we just avoid lactose in the milk. Cheese is ok so far.
My oldest is now allergic to coco beans. More specifically the chemical Tyeramine it comes from amino acids.

So no aged meat or milk products like cheese. Also some beans are bad if they have been sitting to long.
He also has peanut allergies(Doctor thinks it might be the seam allergy as nuts tend to sit around a long time.)
We just avoid these products and we cook fresh meat fr him to take on sandwiches. Canned meat is another no no. Result his skin is looking better then ever.
We have trained both boys to not just idle accept food from people and eat it but to ask what is this made from then explain why if need be. We also teach them that if they so no thank you to a product to stick to it. They are also reassured this is nothing to feel ashamed of as god made them this way for a good reason.

Yes that is where I dread it the most. As so often the favorites are the worst for them to be eating. We are lucky that other then the nuts both can eat anything and live. Just some repercussions for a few days.
In parties I usually actively seek the food supplies out to see what the did in preparation then advise the boys also. I really like just taking the to the dishes and have them look and guess which ones might contain stuff they can not eat. That way they learn to self moderate. My oldest is getting very good at it but still crumbles in his heart for chocolate. He an I are lovers of it...I have given it up in his honor so as to reduces risk.
I think the hardest allergies are glutton and tyramine as they are is just about everything.
