What about B average students?

Do you think that grade "B" average students can still be accepted into prestigious universities?

Why are they B rated? Is it because they are in sports and other activities such as helping out in the communities so that they are spending less time studying or less time doing their research due to the extra stuff in their lives? Maybe they do not have a lot of money in their family and they are needed to have a part time job to help their family make ends meet. Either way I think those that are B average could be just as smart or smarter than some of the A average students. They just have more going on and do not spend all their free time making sure they have high grades.

If you cannot get in because of your grades you might be able to get in based on race or other quota that a university has to comply with so don't ever lose hope.

I don't think GPA is the best determining factor for future academic performance. I know as you get more educated, grades tend to only be an indication of how well you take tests, and not even all tests, just those specific tests you have taken. You could be really good a essay tests and struggle with multiple choice, and thus get better grades in a classes with essay answers. I also agree with KNtoran, it depends on why you are a B student. I think so long as you can represent yourself and show a willingness to work hard and apply yourself to the best of your ability, then you should be able to go wherever you want. Colleges are starting to figure out that grades don't matter as much, and are relying more on other metrics to decide who to admit.
