Buying Water From Farmers
Australia's government promised Tuesday to spend about $2.9 billion to buy river water from farmers in a bid to address the country's worst drought in a century. The spending is the most expensive component of a $12.1 billion, 10-year plan to reduce water waste and improve water efficiency on Australian farms and in cities.

In Australia, the average person uses 876 gallons of water daily. In Switzerland they use only 77 gallons of water per person daily
OK this is an island surrounded by water how can they not manage to desalinate water and have enough to supply the people? Yes institute good water laws like no watering grass in day same for crops.
Have they considered making large livestock animals illegal as well? Seems to me if you can feed a cow for a year from veggies why not feed they veggies to humans and save a muck load of water that the animals drink?
Harsh maybe but so is starving to death while animals stand dying of dehydration. All countries suffer from changing weather patterns always have and always will. The earth is not stagnant just our vanity makes us think we should be able to control it vs managing to live with it.
Perhaps Forest Gump should be our president maybe we all would survive.
