Battery-free 'smart' toys move closer to commercial reality. Scientists report they have used specialized nanogenerators that gather energy from mechanical vibrations to transform squeaky bathtub companions and other conventional children's toys into 'smart' electronics. They say the finding could have broad commercial applications, leading to the development of battery-free, self-powered toys, medical sensors and other devices. Source 7z.
Oh man, that's so cool. I'm a technology buff anyway, and when I saw this thread I thought oh how cool. I'm telling you, technology is improving by leaps and bounds and I could really see this comeing to fruition. Nanotechnology is a wonderful thing and I can hardly wait to see where it heads not only with toys but medically as well. Thank you for putting this thread up, I'm going to keep a close watch on this one.
