Maria Hurricane

They are talking about this being at least a category three hurricane or more when it hits the lesser Antilles. This would make it the fifth major hurricane of this season and that is a pretty good number.

Hurricane Maria History & Civil Business Politics

Yeah, but they said at the beginning of the year this was going to be an active hurricane season. I forget how many hurricanes they predicted for sure but I thought it was twelve. We're half way there. Here's the difference, they seem to be taking a different track this year that is bringing them in contact with the US.

With a strong high in the Atlantic steering the storms to the US coast we will be seeing more and more storms making a US landfall.

Yes, it appears you are correct. I just heard this one may hit the Atlantic side of Florida. Between this and the fact the El NiƱo is late in the Pacific it appears we're going to have a very active hurricane season.

Hurricane Maria becomes a 'potentially catastrophic' Category 5 storm with maximum sustained winds of 160 mph, National Hurricane Center says. The National Hurricane Center upgraded Hurricane Maria to a Category 5 storm on Monday night, with the storm registering maximum sustained winds of 160 mph. The eye and the intense inner core will move near Dominica and the adjacent Leeward Islands during the next few hours, the National Hurricane Center added. Ref. USAToday.

Yes, there won't be anything left. Some islands already had 80%+ damage. Another Cat 5 storm will destroy what's left. It'll take years to build back to where they were. This is really such a shame for the people living there.
