South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg is officially running for president in 2020. Pete Buttigieg officially entered the crowded 2020 presidential race Sunday, marking the young Midwestern mayor's rise from political obscurity to a notable name in the Democratic field. The openly gay millennial leader's announcement capped a week of heightened media attention — driven in part by his criticisms of a fellow Hoosier, Vice President Mike Pence. "It is time to walk away from the politics of the past and toward something totally different," he said Sunday. Ref. USAToday.
It doesn't matter his background or his sexual orientations that he brings up. If he's capable of being a good politician in the long run that would be a good advancement for the United States altogether.

Joe Biden has chosen Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, as his transportation secretary, according to multiple reports. Multiple news outlets reported the decision Tuesday. Buttigieg, who competed with Biden for the presidential nomination before dropping out and endorsing him, would be the first openly gay Senate-confirmed Cabinet secretary if approved. Richard Grenell, who is gay, held a Cabinet-level position in the Trump administration, but was never confirmed to his position by the Senate. Ref. USAToday.
