It seems that in modern day economics everyone wants to break someone, hence the reason it is better to diversify than invest in one area. Wal Mart can afford to sell one product dirt cheap because it has other areas to cover its' 'behind'.

Toys are Us, the big-box retailer that has dominated toy retailing for decades, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. Toys are Us, facing imminent deadlines to pay off hundreds of millions in debt, said late Monday that it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The move comes on the cusp of the all-important holiday season. Ref. USAToday.
This is too bad but things have changed so rapidly so quickly stores like Toys are Us didn't have the nimbleness to react. Sure, Walmart had something to do with this, which is a shame since Walmart and Target don't have nearly the selection of a Toys are Us. But I think the largest impact was being able to order online. There, one has the largest selection of all and who needs to visit a brick and mortar store? The internet and technology are reshaping everything and this trend isn't over. Heck, it may be accelerating.
