Supreme Court: Racism can upend jury verdicts

A juror's disparaging remarks about Mexicans during private deliberations may be enough to vacate a guilty verdict, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote. A majority of justices said a Colorado man accused of sexual battery may deserve a new trial because a juror made discriminatory comment. Three conservative justices dissented. Ref. USAToday.

Court The Racism

There is racism everywhere if you look for it. It does not surprise me that it made its way into a jury. I hope the accused gets another trial with an impartial jury but that could be hard. If there are a lot of racist people out there.

Racism In The Court History & Civil Business Politics

Racism exists everywhere because it is a human failing. That said, it doesn't belong in deliberations on a jury. The verdict should be vacated and he should be retried.

Court The Racism

Yes that is the sad part it exists everywhere instead of people trying to come together and get along they seem to try to tear everyone a part. Yes it does not belong in a jury and yes he should be retried.
