There are many humans that you may pass each day that are homeless... Is the problem money or something deeper? What is the solution?

I don't know what the solution to the problem is. But I think the problem is more than just money. Allot of our nations homeless problem is due to mental illness. To many mentally ill people just end up roaming the streets alone and with out anyone to care for them. There are homeless people that have some money, but have to decide against eating or getting nice cloths to get a job. The problem wont go away until people start looking at them differently. As long as we walk by and say `get a job`, the problem will remain.

Wer have a HUGE problem of homeless people in Trinidad. Sometimes I wonder how all these people could survive if we were living in a country where there is cold and snow?. *shaking head*. I feel so sorry for them, most of them are mentally ill or they are drug addicts. People have reached the stage that they do not even look at them anymore...this is so sad because these people need our help and our love and support like any other individual. They are human beings!.

I can talk how it is here in Trinidad, the problem is so big because the government just do not care. In the WHOLE island, there is not a place where these people can go and bathe, change clothes and sleep. There are places where they provide them food, but these people need more than just food and I think when a man or woman know they can bathe, shave and wear clean clothes and they can see themselves in a mirror, great things can be acomplished.

Long ago I saw an episode in Oprah show about this woman who was thanking a man who rescued her from the streets. She was a drug addict and she was homeless. This guy talked with her and other homeless people and find out their stories and he asked them if they wanted to change their lifetstyles and they said yes. Well, this guy is very rich and put them in a clinic for rehabilitation. When they were done, he trained them and give them work in his company. This woman recently got a doctorate and she is a manager in that same company...what it took?. Just someone who was really interested in helping and a group of people who were interested in helping themselves...
