Just-released videos show chaos and anguish after a white police officer killed a black security guard in a Chicago suburb in November. Security guard Jemel Roberson, licensed to carry a firearm, was subduing an alleged gunman outside a bar when Midlothian, Ill., officer Ian Covey arrived and shot Roberson to death. The footage of the Nov. 11 shooting has just been released by Cook County authorities in response to Freedom of Information Act requests by USA TODAY and other outlets. Source 1f.
I think there's more to this story than the information provided here and I'm also keen to believe that the whole situation was mishandled or disorganized to a certain degree. According to police, it is said that the security guard was not wearing clothing indicating "Security". However, it is said that there was another security guard who shouted that Roberson is one and he is wearing the appropriate clothing for a guard.
