Ysabeau the Blessed

I am Ysabeau the Blessed, and I was born to be your Queen. My father named me thus because his ancestors were said to hail from the lost city of Ys, which is now far below the sea. My name also means "pledged to God." Thusly I am known as the Blessed.

I was born a Half-elf. My father, a human soldier, and my mother, a kind and gregarious elf. They fell in love under mysterious circumstances that neither would ever speak much of. But their love was strong and lively and passionate, as it had to be to survive the prejudices against such a match. My beloved mother, bless her fallen spirit, was struck after my birth with a prophecy: that I, her lone daughter, would ascend to the throne and rule the land. Unexpected though a half-elf may be, her vision saw me showered in gold, and the adoration from my people was complete.

I stand 5'8" tall with a toned yet curvaceous body. I have blazing hair with sparkling blue-green eyes. My rosy skin and a regal appearance in general makes me unique. I think strangers are surprised by my ferocity in battle and my ability to down a stiff dram. I have a fondness for animals.

I see myself as one who follows no one until they are my trusty ally. I give equal value to each of the races, and all those who follow the path of kindness and joy are my friends. Those who work to quell peace and stamp out joy will find me implacable and a merciless enemy.

I take my pledge to become your Queen very seriously and will amass as much fortune and as many allies as necessary to fulfill that destined call. I will unite our disparate lands and usher in an age of peace and joy. Your coffers will run over, and your fields will bloom and flourish. I now start this favored path towards victory.

Advisor Description

Vendors and townsfolk were out in force that day under a sun-dazed sky. A branch snapped nearby as I strolled through the market, and I raised my hand to my forehead to shield my eyes. Was it a squirrel? The light was dazzling, shooting down amongst the canopy of oak trees, almost blinding me to the figure approaching. He was tall, lithe, and had the look of purpose on his face.

"Ysabeau the Blessed," he said as he briefly bowed in greeting before me. "I have come by the grace of God and by the will of your father, Kavan the Stout, to aid you in your destiny."

"My father? Are you one of his soldiers?"

"I am Ziri, a captain of your father's forces in the North. He bid me give you this token to prove my loyalty." He reached out to reveal in his palm a small tin whistle on a silver chain.

I inhaled sharply. "My mother's whistle--he gave you this?"

He nodded in assent. "I have been observing you for some time now, to determine your motives and worth. I believe in your mother's prophecy, but you are far from its conclusion. Why have you not started along the path to your destined Queenship?"

My eyes narrowed. "You have been watching me, following me? I doubt my father would have directed you to skulk so."

Ziri raised an eyebrow in return. "He advised my mission, not my actions." He let out a sigh and glanced around. "I can understand you being circumspect as we have never met. But I have served your father for many good years, starting in my youth, and have been his trusted advisor in many a campaign. I am here now because the path to become rightful Queen is a twisted and dangerous one. I know of your goodness, and your wit, and your determination. But I know the people and the people's enemies and what each are capable of."

He stopped and looked me in the eye. "Please allow me the honor of continuing to serve your family. I would be your true and loyal advisor, my Queen."

His words had pride in them, but also truth and courage. After scrutinizing his soldier's face, I agreed. "Captain, I will trust you to aid me in my royal quest. I thank you for your bond of fealty to me and to my family. For now, you may call me just Ysabeau." I smiled, and he bowed.

Reflections On Your Mother

Reflections On My Mother
Her name was Perlezenn Ravathana, and she was my father's bright pearl. She was passionate and fiery about helping those in need and looked down upon by others. Although my father was often at war in the North, she corresponded with him frequently, and they even had their own secret short-hand that they used for words of love. I would often hear her playing her Elven tin whistle, its crystalline notes piercing the lonely air.

My mother was the strongest woman I've ever met, and sometimes I still can't believe she's gone. She prophesied my great destiny and made certain I received the training I would need to be Queen. Although she never would speak of why she left the Elven lands, she tutored me in their ways and spoke to me in their tongue--so that I would know of my people. One day, I will convince them to join the other nations in peace and be crowned their rightful Queen.
