John Walker Lindh, the American who became a Taliban fighter, released from prison after 17 years, reports say. Lindh, 38, was released from an Indiana prison Thursday morning, according to CNN and Fox News. Dubbed the “American Taliban” after his 2001 capture in Afghanistan, Lindh was serving a 20-year sentence for supporting the Taliban. The Californian moved to the Middle East at age 17 to study Arabic and became a volunteer at an al-Qaeda training camp. Source 5m.
