Dorian strengthens to a Category 4 hurricane, with winds of 130 mph; it's expected to hit Florida as early as Monday night. The state has not yet ordered evacuations, but Gov. Ron DeSantis expanded state of emergency declarations throughout all of Florida's 67 counties. President Donald Trump on Friday also declared a state of emergency to facilitate anticipated federal recovery efforts. Ref. USAToday.
Hurricane Dorian upgraded to 'catastrophic' Category 5 as it nears Bahamas. At 8 a.m. ET, the National Hurricane Center said the storm now has sustained winds of 160 mph and is expected to hit Great Abaco island soon. Dorian could hit Grand Bahama Island later tonight and Monday then turn north toward the U.S. A long stretch of the coast including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina remained in play for landfall. It is very bad. Dorian fought with the Bahamas like it was a wrestling match and Dorian won. The Bahamas are running out of water, lights are down and even mobile use.
