Jarahawk Introduction

Greetings… I am Jarahawk. I am a fan of fantasy and science fiction novels. I am a fan of the Star Trek series (Deep Space Nine being my favorite). I am male. I majored in History. I began playing role playing games as a college freshman. One Friday night, I having nothing better to do walked into the student union and found something called the Fantasy Gaming Club was taking place in one of the rooms. I wandered in and was transfixed. There were people recruiting for games: Marvel Super Heroes (I had been reading comics since I was four years old), Dungeons & Dragons, Shadowrun, Chill, Paranoia… It was simple. All one had to do was sign an interest sheet. The first night I played Dungeons & Dragons and created five characters who all perished in horrible ways. Still, I created a sixth before the end of the night, who probably would have also died had the dungeon master not suspended the game for the night.

Over time I played many games. Once I entered the real world, I made friends with common interests. Most I met at comic book shops. We would hit it off and play role playing games at the comic shop or sometimes at a players home. As we all aged, we fell out of touch. Real life does that sometimes. I found that reading novels or playing computer role playing games were ways to substitute for the role playing experience. What happens when a good book ends? Read it over and over again. And those computer games? It is not as rewarding to finish the same scenario multiple times.

So I would like to join this community. It would be fun to participate in an ever expanding universe.
