Former beauty queen. Former Governor of Alaska. Ran as a nominee for US Vice President with McCain. Could she also be a future US President?

QUOTE

Some of her ideas are good, yes I agree but she is not unique in her views.

That is probably the best thing about her. Her views aren't unique. They are timeless, and they are held by a very large section of the U.S. Population. Sarah is one who I think is a great spokesman for conservative, traditional values.

I think Conservative thought appeals to many women in the United States, but there has not been many who could explain Conservatism from the Female perspective.

I think Sarah may be a perfect spokesman to accomplish this.

I apologize, I meant she is not the only one holding those views. Why is she so special then?

Sarah Palin History & Civil Business Politics

The very fact that she is an attractive, successful woman, who holds those beliefs and values, and who can present them well, is what makes her special. In fact, it is more that there are so many far-left fringe people, including most of the US media, who hate her that makes her so special to conservatives.

However, the GOP leadership hate her almost as much as the Democrats. They, the GOP, are not conservative, and haven't been since about 1998, when they sold out the 1994 landslide victory. The fact that anyone at all thinks that Colin Powell is a good Republican is a great example of this.

The Grand Old Party is dead. My hope is that Governor Palin can lead a true conservative movement that will pull the "center" far from the left-wing fringe it is at now.

Back to why she is so special. The media was unable to dismiss her during the election campaign, and have been unable to destroy her. This has placed her in the position of becoming the leading female voice of conservatism - if she takes up the challenge.

The media has been able to marginalize people like Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, and other conservative women, as they are not "in the news" themselves, but are observers and commentators. Potentially strong conservative women such as Libby Dole and Olympia Dukakis were successfully seduced to the left. Others, such as Katherine Harris, of Florida, were successfully ignored.

We will continue to see attacks, jokes, even attempts at official sanctions against Governor Palin, as the Left and its pet media keep trying to silence her. Since she was able to slap down David Letterman, perhaps they will be more subtle about it, but I don't expect it.

Obama wasnt the only one to every parade himself as a Washington Outsider or hold the views that got him elected (check all of the modern presidents back to Carter...with the exception of Bush Sr). Honestly, it is more about herself and what she represents along with the message that she delivers.

She can embrace religion, be successful, enjoy her family and still be a woman.

She makes many feminist liberals very nervous at the fact that she knowingly kept a child that would be born handicapped. Deep down inside, they all know that they would have opted for "choice" and that meant a pregnancy termination, because it is easier. But Sarah kept her child and she kept her job. We all know that raising a handicapped child will be more of a challenge and some resent her for taking it on.

She is socially conservative. She is actually like most of the midwest of the US in her views. The media have labled us FLY OVER COUNTRY and dismiss the values that are in-grained in the hard working midwest people. They view us as old fashioned, socially backwards and way outdated. Noticed how they picked on her wardrobe...didnt mention a whole lot about Clinton's Pantsuit De Jour, but we sure picked on Sarah. In the midwest, we like religion and dont view it as dont view it as a barrier to the higher ethical views spewed from the "bench" from time to time. We like that our money says "in GOD WE TRUST" and dont want it removed.

She speaks like she knows us. Not like someone that spent a hour with us and sipped a beer or threw a bowling ball for the first time, she really knows what it is like to work and actually participate in the raising of her children. She relishes this and it is obvious to all that talk to her that she really does like being a mother. She also like doing her job and works hard for those that have elected her. Does she know all of the political games that are played in Washington...probably not, but trust me...she learns fast. PTA can be as brutal a playground as the perk filled offices of Washington and she made it there.

Barak Obama's tough life ended long ago. Hillary Clinton never had a hard life (aside from dealing with her cheating husband...which did endear her to some). When they talk to us about understanding our lives...they dont. We know they dont. Some of them have nicer voices when sympathizing with our lives, but they really dont know or understand. Think Hillary Clinton was ever a soccermom? Dream on!

Where will modern liberal feminists be if Sarah Palin becomes a role model? What will all those who make a living preaching the benefits of Roe V Wade do if Sarah becomes a role model...and there are LOTS OF THEM! Who will all the people who want to force us to say Seasons Greetings instead of Merry Christmas turn to?

Probably my favorite quote goes to Ann Coulter....

QUOTE
Then they attacked her daughter, who actually is pregnant now, for being unmarried. When liberals start acting like they're opposed to pre-marital sex and mothers having careers, you know McCain's vice presidential choice has knocked them back on their heels.

Sometimes I wonder about the husband and his role and how much influence he has over her decisions.

Are all the males on this board horny over Palin or what? How she looks has little to do with how she can run my country.

I do not see what being a horny male has to do with Sarah Palin. I think she is a nice enough lady to be able to go places but I am not totally "on-board" with her wanting to be president or even vice president of this nation. I know she has some very good core values and she is not afraid to stand up for them. I am just wondering if she will come to be the head of the GOP as they need a leader now.

And that is the real point. She has the attention of many (probably most) of the conservatives, in that she offers a real alternative to the moderates who got support from the GOP last year. She has real values, for which she is willing to sacrifice. She doesn't waffle and compromise her principles like McCain and Romney.

I don't know if she will ever run for President. That is not the point. She is a voice that can be heard.

As for her looks. The media is so hung up on looks, it isn't even funny. Just listen to some of the gushing nonsense about Michelle Obama. What did David Letterman have to say about her? It was all about her looks. What did the vicious Left have to say about her? It was almost all about her looks. Carefully look at the pictures you see of her in the media. You won't see very many of the nice ones, where she is relaxed and having fun. No, they always use pictures that attempt to be unflattering.

Yes, her looks get attention. But most of that is screaming from the Left and its pet media. They can't stand that an attractive woman like her is actually conservative. It threatens their belief system.
