I kept thinking she was doing it so she could run for senator, but I checked and found out that niether Alaska's senators are voted on next year so that doesnt make any sense. Maybe Steele is going to drop the chairman's spot, but I would have expected him to have announced his leaving before she did? I doubt it is trash because I doubt anyone could look harder than the democrats did when her name was chosen for McCain's runningmate.

The articles are saying that there were so many lawsuits alleging ethics violations that it was costing the state over $2 million. She is allegedly stepping down to save the state some money and stop the suits.
Personally, I doubt this story, but I imagine the truth will come out eventually. Something else is going on, in my opinion.
Someone pointed out that by stepping down because of lawsuits, she is setting a precedent for future office-holders to be ousted by harassment.

I had actually read that she was like $500,000 USD in debt because of the lawsuits and that that was a huge factor in her stepping down. If so, then it is the end of her career politically because it doesnt get any easier the further up you go.

PALIN resigns, Glenn reacts
Many (of course) are bashing the move by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to resign, saying she's left the state high and dry. That's especially funny coming from the left -- the same people who mock her relentlessly and don't want to give her the nuclear codes. But, there are lots of questions raised from the move. Is she focusing on 2012? Is she bailing on politics? Glenn gives his thoughts on the resignation. Ref. Source 5
I really like Glenn's comments on this. I think that Governor Palin is just doing exactly what she said in her speech. Millions of dollars of the state's money is being spent investigating and dealing with all the frivolous ethics charges against her. By resigning, all of them become moot, and they just disappear. She still has over $500,000 worth of personal debt dealing with these same charges.
I listened to Juan Williams, a PBS journalist, and he just said that she is a "quitter." I guess she needed to wait until she was completely bankrupt and someone had found a way to get her recalled before she cut her losses.
While I think a lot of her, I think she is crazy if she tries to run for President in 2012. She has only had a slight taste of the absolute frenzy the media will show if she actually goes up against Obama.

Palin said to 'some' in the media that they need to honor the US soldier by stop making up news. She also said to leave the current governor's children alone.
