Former beauty queen. Former Governor of Alaska. Ran as a nominee for US Vice President with McCain. Could she also be a future US President?

Obama uses a teleprompter, but he is "The One". Pro quarterbacks in the NFL write the plays down on their wrist bands. Professional speakers historically used 3x5 cards as an aid. Actually, speakers don't have the whole speech written down on their 3x5 cards. They are just bullet points to jog a line of thought that they wanted to convey. This is basically what Palin did...she turned her hand into a 3.5 card.

This would have been far more funny to me if it were a "to do list" temporarily tatooed to the palm of her hand. Like: Get Milk, Cereal, Coke and Toilet Paper. It would only be funny because most of us have done it, just not on national TV.

Are Kurt Warner, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning and basically all the professional NFL quarterbacks bad QB's because they write the plays down on their wrist? No. Actually, we would applaud them for not letting their egos get to far in the way of making sure the right play was called. Would we have faulted a bomber pilot from previous wars for writing drop quardinates on his hand to make sure he didn't forget?

3M has made a fortune off various colors and shapes of Post Its to help us remember key points and help us organize our day and thoughts...are we bad because we cannot remember everything without writing it down? I take notes at meetings that are my own "special" brand of shorthand that would make no sense to another human, but helps me sort my work, follow-ups and thoughts of the meeting.

If anyone remembers watching Ronald Reagan deliver a message, there was one thing that you felt no mater which side of the aisle you stood: He was sincere. If he had bad news to give, you believed him. If the news was good, you knew it was good. You almost felt as if he were talking to you and not at you, because he really was (he said this was how he thought when he gave speeches). So is it worse to read your lines off a teleprompter and be so unfamiliar with the content that you glide right over errors without a thought or that you might get nervous enough speaking that you might forget a key issue you wanted to bring up so you write bullet points on your palm?

I know I have made a crack or two about the Czar of the Teleprompter and I should probably stop. However, I will say that when I sing Karaoke here in Japan and the words are wrong, I am familiar enough with the material that I can correct it as the song goes on and not miss a beat.

As for Palin, the next speech I give I would have a few comments for the reporters written in the palm of your hand. How about....

Coup meeting with Pelosi @ 3pm
Dinner with Rahmy
Stop by RNC for Clothes $$$
Have Todd wave to Russians
R. Gibbs bite me

Palin Sarah

The "Family Guy" show had an episode where they mocked Palin's son who has down syndrome. It was truly heartless, some people are plain sick. She also recently slammed White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and radio talk host Rush Limbaugh for using the word "retard" however how many times Glen Beck has used the term and she has never said anything. I agree 100% the term is absolutely disgusting but for me, it doesn't matter who uses it!

I had a big long thing written on the word "retarded" but it's really pretty off-topic so I'll skip it.

Although I thought the treatment of Palin's palm-it was pretty funny, that's more because it just struck me as that way, not that it really was anything to be ashamed of. As Vincenzo mentioned, most of us (at least me for sure) need notecards and even some words or phrases prepared so I don't forget what I'm doing or saying, even for an informal gathering, if there's something I wanted to share with them, so regardless of my overall opinion of her suitability for politics, I don't see this as being, heh, a "black mark", pardon the pun, on her, as she was relying on only a "handful" of notes to get her point across; compared to Obama's scrolling speechful of teleprompter regurgitation, not that I have a problem with his method either.

In all, like the media does, regardless of what network it is, a mountain has been made out of a molehill, which, while entertaining, doesn't do much to actually relay REAL information and reporting on important events in the world.

Sarah Palin is just a girl from a small town who got launched into the spotlight way too fast. Is she presidential material? I don't think so. I appreciate her "gutsy-ness" and standing up to her detractors, but really all she's doing is creating a show. She'll never be taken seriously enough to be elected to another political office, in my opinion.

Looking across a great expanse of Canadian wilderness, where miles of pine trees line the wide river and stretch back to grand snow-capped mountains, one question is on my mind: shouldn't I be able to see Sarah Palin's house from here? Ref. Source 8
