The Russians have always claimed to have some magic trick that is better than someone else's but don't all the other nations do the same thing? How many times have we seen Russians claim this or that and then they can't even get it to work. Remember that historical note about the plane that flew right into Moscow undetected despite Russia saying how invisible they were.

That plane was detected by the PVO (Soviet Air Defence Forces) before it hit Warsaw Pact airspace, but the bureaucratic inefficiency of the system meant they needed permission from higher authority to take a shot or launch aircraft against what was identified as a civilian target. So it kept getting kicked higher up the chain, which depending on what those commanders were doing meant further delays, until he landed. The most senior commander didn’t follow procedure to destroy any airborne target that threatened Moscow airspace. Embarrassing; Heads rolled.
Disregard any officially released figures, as every nation lies about their true capabilities. This one works, they have successfully tested it. Clearly built to circumvent the latest (And hopefully near future) generation of Western ballistic and cruise missile defences. Rest assured that Western countries are racing for improvements in their defences, and the US in particular is fast tracking its own hypersonic program to catch the Chinese and Russian programs. Other Western nations are also researching them. Armaments evolution continues.

Well that is what I meant the Russians claim to have the best of everyone with their arms but really you have to have the backing to make it work. This all Putin's last ditch effort at trying to save political face.

Incorrect, this isn’t a last ditch effort at anything. What event has happened that has meant he has to save political face?
They only claim to have the best when it’s either the truth, or there’s an arms exhibition on and it’s time to sell military systems. Other countries make similar claims at similar times.

If Russia would spend more time investing in her people than missiles then life for many would be better there. Still it is worrying to have a former KGB as head of one of the most powerful governments in the world. Now he is happy to announce his supersonic missile to say what, that he could destroy millions of lives if he wanted? I do not think that anyone is threatening Russia at the moment so why the arms build up… its because he is planning further pushes into the north and south poles. If Russia did use a missile like this it would be there hope to obliterate the enemy before they had a chance to retaliate but does that really truly happen… no.

If every country spent less on defence and more on their people and infrastructure, that would be Utipian, but alas we are humans and that is unlikely to come to pass.
Russia is under threat, just like every other nation whether you realise it or not. Every nation is the benefactor of hundreds or thousands of years of political interaction between societies, of which sovereign nation states are the latest iteration, and they're all playing the Great Game of probe and counter. If you personally feel threatened by Russia, and your nation isn't on its physical borders, stop and ask yourself why you feel that way and what your country may have been doing to antagonise them for Russia to generate anything that you would then consider it as a threat.
