I have arrived here seeking entertainment and enlightenment. The kinds that can be accessed through preventative wards from the magic scrolls of my employer (Cough overzealous IT restrictions on work iphone cough).
Plus I was raised on a diet of text based games, and the Fabled Lands series of books, and thus have a soft spot for text based Role-playing Games.

Also, one big correction I need ti make about Numenera, is that these civilizations are not merely thousands of years in the past but billions of years in the past… Which makes a pretty significant difference. Especially since it's better helps with the consideration of why the world and galaxy has continued to exist so long, with just how advanced technology could have gotten. With there even being a datasphere surrounding the planet. Which is basically the internet but times hundred, admittedly in a bit of disrepair if still functioning.

I'd recommend going on YouTube and looking up the video Welcome to The Ninth World - Numenera, which gives a good 11 minute overview of the setting.

Thank you for your efforts in teaching me about the Role Playing Games. My wife the Potter nerd, only a few days ago, out of nowhere said she’d found out about “a Harry Potter roleplaying game based on something called Dungeons & Dragons ” and informed me I was playing it whether I wanted to or not. Now I’m learning about them to provide a useful player rather than my usual self of which I’d play a morally bankrupt teenager wizard student who kept casting ‘engorgio’ on certain parts of his anatomy.
