Groundhog Punxsutawney Phil fails to see his shadow, predicts early spring

The world's most famous groundhog made his prediction at the annual ceremony in Punxsutawney, Pa. Legend has it that if the furry rodent sees his shadow, winter will last an additional six weeks. If not, spring comes early. Since 1887, the groundhog has seen his shadow 102 times and not seen it just 17 times. Ref. USAToday.

The famous groundhog left his burrow at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, shortly before 7:30 a.m. ET and did not see his shadow. As the legend goes, this means we're in for an early spring - although Phil is usually wrong.
