Florida Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart has tested positive for coronavirus, becoming the first known member of Congress to contract the virus. Diaz-Balart, a Republican who represents parts of Miami and South Florida, said in a statement that he decided to self-quarantine in Washington on Friday because his wife has pre-existing conditions, making her more susceptible to contracting coronavirus. Diaz-Balart said the following day, he started to show symptoms that included a fever and headache. Ref. USAToday.
The corona virus is so swift; even politicians are getting it as well. Then again, it makes me wonder - just what exactly is the United States doing to slow down the spread? There is clearly a lot of irresponsibility going around in a lot of states that contributed to a massive boost in spread; especially those who'd think that the pandemic is the time to go outside and vacation. People like this man should be an example that people should always self quarantine when there are suspicious symptoms. Laws to stay home should be mandatory but despite even those laws there are some people who goes outside unreasonably and get sick themselves to top it all off!
