What happens If I Don't Give Notice?
If I want to move out of my rental without giving notice to the landlord what can happen?
If you rent you have signed a renters agreement that spells out the penalties for breaking you agreement. If you are in your first year of the agreement you are liely responsible to make those payments till the place can be filled again. That means rent fees fro up to the end of the contract.
Most often it means a 60 day notice though in the first year then you are finished your contract. Whether you are there or not you will have to pay that amount unless it is rented to some one before the time is up. In the case where you have no contract as it expired then you are in a 30 day agreement and you have to give 30 days or pay the rent regardless unless you can find someone ho can take the place over.
Best bet is keep this in mind when placing a bid on a home also remember it is nice to have an empty house for a month so you can make repairs and paint with no furniture in the way.

If your lease has expired not much will happen just for moving. Where you may suffer is if you want to use your landlord as a reference for future rentals. If you leave without notice that will not pave the way for a good reference in the future. If that is not an issue for you then I wouldn't worry about it.

In Canada with a lease that is expired you have to give 2 months notice or pay that rent even though you are not there. Often 30 days is well received as it technically is a 30 day rental agreement starting on the first of each month.
