Disabled Of Advantages

For one I have a lifetime fishing and small game hunting license. That saves me a lot of money.

No matter what you might get moneywise I don't think I would wish to be disabled (touch wood).

Comments: If one can get past the inevitable stares from strangers, people often tend to be overly nice to those with physically challenges.

Monica that's true but I wonder if they're being genuine or just feel bad about the person. I'm curious also about how people with disabilities perceive it.

Advantages Of Being Disabled

Some people are genuine and will do all they can to assist you while others will turn away or look disgusted at you. IT is interesting the number of people who give you odd looks when you park in a handicap spot and yet can walk on your own two legs.

If you can walk on your own two legs why would you need to park in a handicapped parking spot? I'm not arguing just asking out of curiosity.

Comments: To answer your question about why someone would need a handicap parking spot if you have two legs that work. Please do not judge people when you see them leaving their car. They may appear alright to you but you have NO way of knowing their disability. They may have implants or have recently had spinal surgery. Also, there are many medical issues that involve chronic pain and may or may not be related to their legs. I personally have a handicap placard due to my seizures. I have a very limited warning in my body to alert me to having a seizure and during this time my legs go out and I will fall to the ground. I will have time to get to a safe spot if I am parked close enough and can get to my car. I do not drive at all so I am always being escorted by friends or family. There are MANY reasons for people to receive placards. Unfortunately people such as myself have a disability that you cannot see and I am on the receiving end of ignorance. I would trade my disability and park three miles away from the store with someone who is healthy anyday!
