I'm no expert in coding but I'd say that perhaps some people may be good at coding but not necessarily the bigger field of maths. Perhaps some people are just better designed at certain topics of maths than others - making it easier for them to get into coding. It quite depends on the person, what kind of coding and situation they are in.
