ICondon Introduction

I have a Sister-In-Law who I feel to be constantly attention seeking and it is causing arguements between myself and my partner.

Seven years ago she lost (died) her partner while on holiday on the Greek Islands and she has been left with their now eight year old son, who is fantastic.

Appox 1 year ago both my partner and I were out with some friends and we invited her along, when the night had finished a disagreement broke out in her house between my partner and myself, to which I tried to leave the house, my partner stopped me as she didnt want us falling out. The next thing I know is my sister in law is attacking me accusing of smacking my partner (which didnt happen and never has happend) My partner intervened and put the record straight.

When we got home that night, we got a phone call from the sister in law saying she was going to kill herself. Concerned for her well being, we both drove to her house were she started saying she was only saying that and she wouldnt really do it. At this point, flew off the handle and said that she needed sectioning as her actions are upsetting people and would no doubt have an effect on her son.

In November last year we invited her and her son to come on holiday with us for two weeks in Florida. All she needed to do was pay for their flights and their spending money etc all of the accomodation was free as my parents have a condo in Orlando. Throuout the whole two week, she did not crack a smile once. She kept shouting at her son, all he was doing was enjoying himself and she constantly looked disinterested in anything. What really broke the camel's back for me is when we arrived back in the UK she told people that she didnt really enjoy it as she couldnt relax. One week later she booked up to go again (I was not and still am not impressed)

Earlier this year, my partner and I went through IVF treatment as I cannot have children naturally. Thankfully it worked first time After everything we had been through for the previous few months something actually went right for us. However, the SIL then claimed that she had been to the doctors and said they had found a breast lump and she had to go for an emergency appointment. It turned out that this emergency appointment was three weeks later and she was given the all clear straight away.

Obviously with my partner being pregnant, she is getting some welcome attention herself and the sister in law's newest trick is she has high blood pressure and ellegedly the doctors are very concerned. The fact that she drinks alcohol 4 nights a week, only has her son for 2 nights a week, she does not excersize at all.

Everybody in the family are treading on eggshells around her and it is causing a atmosphere. I have simply had enough, I have lost all respect that I had for her, I cant even look at her, I feel that I am constantly biting my lip so I dont say anything to her.

Can anybody please offer any suggestions on how to deal with her
