My name is Vardis. Since I was born I have been taught that words have power, and that my name isn't only that, but the way people know of you, before they even really know you, words, and names have power. That is the reason why I have worked hard to be known as "the paladin", to carry such a title lets people know what to expect of me, and what I aim to do with my life.
All my life I have prepared myself, physically, mentally and spiritually to be the champion of the light that this realm needs, that it's people have been waiting for so long.
I have a plan. I am not going to be just another blank spot in history, nor will I achieve my goals by stepping on other peoples heads. No, I will earn my place in history, and to do that I am going to start from the bottom, help the people around me, and earn their trust, their loyalty and their help. They will see what kind of person I am, and what kind of leader I can be, and when everybody knows that, no one will dispute that I am the most suiting person to lead our kingdom to a better future for all.
A Sentimental Value
Before departing my home for the last time, and even though it still pains me with memories of the past, I decided I would search in the hidden chest mother kept under the one broken wooden plank in the living room. I grew up knowing that in case of emergency we could always rely on finding worthy items kept inside it.
It has been many rough years, and I really don't expect to find a lot of riches, but it is surprising (And even underwhelming) to find that only a ring has made it through the pass of time. It is a modest ring, silver I think, with my family's crest on it. I decide to take it, both for sentimental value and how much it might be worth if I ever find myself in a desperate position.
Advisor Description
As I was having my meal in the tavern, I was approached by a fairly large man, who introduced himself as Uther, the captain. At first I didn't know what to think of him, but then he told me that he had been hired by my father to aid me at improving my skills, and with them, my chances on succeeding in life.
At first it was a really cold talk, he didn't know a lot about me, or me of him, but as time and ale went pssing by, he told me a lot about himself, his time with the army, how he always had a soft spot for recruits, and how he expected to fulfill his oath to my father. He would help me improve both my fighting, leadership and any skill I was willing to learn. Furthermore he expected me to be able to find support in him, and with time, become a trusted advisor of mine.
