Chrome is my personal browser of choice. I tried using Firefox on my mac machine, but the user-interface is too ugly. Chrome is much simpler and prettier. Regarding the privacy concerns, I was not aware of that. I rather enjoy Chrome's ability to sync browsing information such as bookmarks.
