Yes as a Alcoholic who has not drank in over ten years I feel that it can be cured. I have no desire to pick up a drink and take a drink. I have no desire to go to a store and buy alcohol for me to drink. I have gone and bought alcohol for others in the house who are all adults for get together's and sat there and had a good time while not drinking alcohol at all. So yes if the person is willing to be cured I feel that yes it can happen.
I have been to reahb for a year to help with my alcoholism. What we say back there is to control the urges. As to a cure, we always said back then once an addict, always an addict. One day at a time. One day that I don’t drink alcohol is one giant step towards recovery for me. And I’m still recovering.
In fact, a study led by researchers at the University of Linköping (Sweden) shows that low levels of the GAT-3 protein in the amygdala are responsible for the brain reward system changing its 'preferences' and prioritizing alcohol over others 'healthier' alternatives.
