It sucks because you're living in your own house like a prisoner. You are not truly free to walk the streets without having to wonder who is at your back. And if you don't look like the locals then even worst.

Comments: I do not agree with the sentiments of this individual. Whatever your class, creed or race you can move about without fear. However it would be folly to throw caution to the wind. There are 'hot-spots' where homicides are rampant and gang related. Take a walk or drive through the city and you shall observe citizens hanging out and enjoying their favorite pastimes late into the night or early morning. Is this the sign of a country under siege? I agree the homicide rate is alarming and has tainted our image.
