Minister, Family Robbed At Home
It is truly sad that not even one of the nicest areas in Trinidad is speared of crime. Even Ministers are robbed at their home.
QUOTE Foreign Affairs Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon was at home early yesterday morning, when a burglar broke into her Westmoorings house and escaped with "a few personal items and some money".
In an interview with the Express yesterday, Gopee-Scoon said, however, that she and her family are all "fine", were tramautised by the incident, but planned to "tighten" the security at her home.
"Obviously, you have concern for yourself and your family now because you never know what kind of weapon a bandit would have. This is life. We are fine. We are all well," she said in a telephone interview while she was at her constituency office in Point Fortin last evening.
Gopee-Scoon said that she, along with her husband, housekeeper and one of her sons, were asleep when, at around 3 o'clock, one of her other sons came home and almost had a face-to-face encounter with the burglar, who was scared away.
"He actually noticed the door open and did not get out of the car, which was the smart thing to do," she said of her son, who called her to alert the family as to what was happening.
"I called the emergency 999 number...The police responded really well. They were there in a matter of minutes," Gopee-Scoon said.
She said her son only saw one person leaving the house when he arrived, but did not dismiss the possibility that others could have been involved...
Source 8Fingerprints and all? I wonder if the police does that in the average Joe case.
