Okay, this is another study that seems like it's simply common sense. Since we haven't fully recovered from that recession and since less well off families tend to have more children, one would assume that there are more kids in high poverty areas following the Great Recession.

I think that the US educational system is need of a serious over haul. I think public schools are doing nothing for most of our children except how to tease and bully others. Private schools are not much better with teachers and other people in authority who are taking advantage of students. I would hope that we develop a computer based system that teaches everyone the same and if they want to learn they can if they do not want to learn they will not. This has not changed and will not change at all. I think many who want to learn more and do better they will prove to themselves that they can do great things with a good education. More kids learning from home in a safer environment will do our children more good.

I agree our education system should be more computer based KN. But I fear if we home school our kids they'll lose the ability to develop their social skills. School helps them develop these skills. We have to do a better job making schools safe and making them equal. We also have to do a better job making what we teach relevant and the truth, not this far left and far right fiction.

The way I look at this is a hybrid system. K thru 4th grade in a class room like setting once a day five days a week for a couple hours to interact. Once they are above 4th grade it is time to limit this interaction during certain hours of the day devoted to schooling and they learn at home in a safe environment. Then after those study hours they can go out and interact like kids do in the neighborhoods they live in and interact. Like they do anyways. Most of the learning is done at home and each child working at their own pace with access to the same materials for all.

The problem is our kids have become so sedentary that they may not make it outside to play like we did when we were young. Now, they sit in the house and play on whatever device they happen to play on… football? Tag? What the heck is that? Outside!?! Are you crazy, its hot out there.
