I have also been following this case and what to see an 'end' to it. Personally I will be surprised if the mother goes free.

Trial Anthony Casey

Casey Anthony has been found not guilty of first-degree murder of her daughter, Caylee. She was found guilty on four counts of providing false information to law enforcement.

The verdict, reached by the seven-woman, five-man jury, caps a trial that stretched to more than six weeks and featured allegations of s-xual abuse, questions regarding Casey Anthony's competence and various theories on what happened to the 2-year-old.

Casey Anthony, 25, was charged with seven counts -- first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child and four counts of providing false information to a law-enforcement officer in Caylee's 2008 disappearance and death.

Prosecutors alleged Casey Anthony used chloroform to render her daughter unconscious and then duct-taped her mouth and nose to suffocate her. They alleged that she put the child's body in the trunk of her car for a few days before disposing of it. Caylee's skeleta l remains were discovered December 2008.

Casey Anthony's defense attorneys maintained that Caylee was not murdered at all. They said the child drowned in the Anthony's above-ground pool on July 16, and that Casey Anthony and her father, George Anthony, panicked upon finding her there and covered up the death. George Anthony denied that in his testimony. Ref. CNN

I'm not surprised in the least. The evidence was quite circumstantial but I personally have no doubt that she killed her daughter.

I know what you mean Sleuth. My biggest thing about this was how she was having fun and partying right after her daughter was missing. She already served some time so I wonder if she will have to serve anymore because what she is convicted of is just a misdemeanor.

Trial Anthony Casey

The prosecution needed some better testimony of her conversations and actions following the absense of the child. With it being a child, the prosecution will get a bigger benefit of the doubt, but they really had nothing other than her lies and strange actions following the murder. This was another reasonable doubt case. Unfortunately, with the cast of characters in this case...there was plenty of doubt.

To me, the fact that the parents left the court room and wanted nothing to do with their daughter is interesting. Her latest story about Caylee drowning and her father helping cover it up is very odd. I agree with something that was written quite a while back but was never really unraveled here..

Her story with her father being not part but actually leading the cover up after he found the dead child is very odd and actually clever as the prosecution really didn't have to prove it...just say it...like the molestation accusations that trained Casey to be a good liar. However, they were effective. This is not to mention George Anthony trying to take his own life. Actually, the defense of painting the Anthony family as grossly disfunctional, I would say, was the key to this verdict. This killer/killers/cover up artists are all within this family and they will have to live with it for the rest of their lives. I suspect some of them will sleep better at night than others.

Well, maybe they want to make a second case but needed to see how this one turned out. In essence if the mother has been found not guilty then that means the 'killer' is still out there and it also means someone still needs to stand trial.

I suspect that the DA will not pursue this case any further (like in the OJ case) and say that the killer was tried but found not guilty. The key is that she was found not guilty. She wasnt found innocent. A bit of word parsing but I really don't think the DA will go after anyone unless there is a bunch of really good forensic evidence found and it cant be the mother because she already stood trial - no double jeopardy.

Now she could be charged with wrongful death in a civil case and likely found guilty (like OJ), but who would file the complaint? I guess the grandparents could file.
