OK, you want an introduction. I am 71 years young. I have been married to the same person for 45 years. I am a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. I was an ok father considering I was raised by a career Marine. I came to understand why my father was the way he was about a hour after I arrived in-country defending my country in a far away land some of my generation choose to forget or align themselves along the political left or right debating the right or wrong of the war.
I am an artist with a MA in painting and an MFA in sculpture to prove it. I travel around the world doing ritual durational performance art pieces. I taught art on the college and high school level for about 30 years. I consider myself a minor league player in the art world but was able to buy a nice piece of land to build a cabin and studio for retirement.
I hunt and fish to provide some food for the family and neighbors. I've been a skate/surfer since 1963. Not so much any more as I've gotten older but it's nice to remember slipping through chest high waves and sliding around asphalt roads near my home,
I started playing Dungeons & Dragons in 1983. My neighbor knew I enjoyed Tolkien's books so he invited me to play this new game he discover. Dungeon and Dragons! This lead to 17 years of weekly session as a player. It wasn't until 2000 that I took up the mantle of Dungeon Master due to a new job far away from my Dungeons & Dragons universe. Initially I couldn't find any players so I dove into Play by Post as a player and Dungeon Master. I did that for 4 years I became a forever Dungeon Master through 3.0/3.5/Pathfinder/4e and eventually 5e.
During Covid I ran games on Roll20. The settings ranged from pre-4e Forgotten Realms, Wildemount (Critical Role), Dark Sun, Oriental Adventures, Midgard (Kobold Press) and currently Adventurers in Middle Earth. At the end of 2021 the local RPG game club I started in our local community began playing again weekly at our local library, During the lock down I also began play solo games like Ironsworn which lead to think about Play by Post and wonder if it was still a thing. It took me awhile to check if it was still a thing which brings me here,.
Welcome adventurer. The current RPG in this Community is Ruler of Kings II which is a custom text based RPG and while similar to Dungeons & Dragons it is an independent and self-regulating role-playing system. I dare say, for the purpose of solo online entertainment while still maintaining a detailed character and imaginative development you will find that ROK II is far more diverse and engaging as a text RPG.
