Two Jamaicans Kidnapped In Trincity Mall
It could have been you or me hanging out in the mall and falling victim of crime. Many times I thought about the mall as a place where you can spend sometime with your family in a relatively safe place. Well, not anymore.
QUOTE A contingent of heavily-armed police officers swooped down on Trincity Mall yesterday afternoon, hunting for two men suspected of kidnapping two Jamaican nationals.
Police said the two suspects, pretending to be taxi drivers, reportedly kidnapped the two Jamaicans around 2 pm in central Trinidad.
However, as the men were making their getaway and heading east, one of the Jamaicans managed to jump out of the moving car and flagged down another vehicle, police said.
Investigators said the man, who appeared visibly distraught, went to the Cunupia Police Station and made a report, giving police a description of the suspects and the vehicle.
The captive Jamaican was then taken to the Western Union branch located at Trincity Mall and ordered to hand over a large amount of money to the suspects.
But before the transaction could be completed, police stormed the mall, rescuing the Jamaican and nabbing one of the suspects.
The other suspect escaped...
