Are you Grits?

Just hit me as one of the most nastey things I have ate but those who where raised with it seem to love it.

Nope, not grits. Yuck! Good guess, though, because it's one of those things a lot of people consider "comfort foods" and may be singularly U.S.

Do you have ice cream in you? Nope. See first clue

Are you considered a soup? No, but have some similarity to stew.

Are you something that is microwaved before eating? Heated, yes, and some varieties can be microwaved.

Are you Chili? Nope.

Edit: I just did a Google search and can find only two different names for this in the US (one being a Dutch name that may be mispronounced). It seems distinctly US origin, although it may be a variation on a type from other countries (the UK for example).
