Leprosy
What exactly is Leprosy and its effects on the human body?
Leprosy is a disease caused by a bacteria. It affects the skin first and eventually the limbs. Their skin becomes scaly and gets ridges. The limbs become disfigured and lose function. People who get leprosy are usually living in bad conditions.
Oddly enough, researchers have found that armadillos are the only animal other than humans that can contract leprosy.
I do believe it attacks the nerves and the result is your body does not respond to small scrapes and infection and gangrene can set in due to that. It can cause very serious disfigurement because of the side effects.
