The US is starting to remind me of what socialist governments tend to do... take over the major players in society and tell them how it is to be run, but how many more will they rescue?

I believe that the government is going to take over everything and try to centralize all of our worth. And I am not alone in this belief, but there are very few that believe this. I started seeing a lot of this a year ago, because I live here. I have told people and told them and they still don't believe it. People in my family said I was nuts, but it is all coming true. We are no better than the communists now. We are to concerned with the Football games and American Idol.

This is exactly the kind of thing our founding Fathers warned us about.

Now I can take my foil hat off.

What I dont get is who gets saved and who is let to die? AIG gets a bailout. Bear Stearns gets a bailout. Lehman is told...SORRY bout your luck. Merrill Lynch...no bailout, but gets bought. Washington Mutual? I would say that it should be odd to see a S&L here, but it really isnt...remember the 80's and deregulation. However, they are told there is no money for them so get dealing...

I have actually said for a long time that the US is more like a Democratic Socialist Republic. For a long time, there have been treads of Socialism throughout the US governing body. They deepen with each economic/international crisis that the US enters.

Big difference between this and what a socialist government does is that they just take it over...that is the bailout. No Cash...just new management ala the Sulfur KING...Hugo Chavez!

All I can say is that if you think that the current CEO's and exec boards have done a poor job of managing their affairs, just WAIT until you can see what impressive heights of malpractice our own government can make of the market. The amounts of the bailouts will be off by about 40% when all the accounting is said and done because of missappropriations, massive golden parachutes and basic theft. Look at the S&L crisis.

I would upgrade the foil hat to gold leaf. It holds its value much longer!

I think you both are right. We have a lot to fear from this government. Too bad the masses are held at bay by the massive tv and news media that tells them they need to sit by the tv and computer to make sure they vote for the proper person.

I got that same email...twice! Looks like were not alone!

I am nervous about the way things are going. I try to think what my family will need so I can be prepared but I am just kind of lost. I wish I understood economics better.

I like that Idea sign me up too. Why are we bailing these guys out. They have proven that they do not know how to invest our monies wisely so why give them more. I like the idea of me getting over $500,000 to do with as I please. smile.gif
