In my opinion, dreams if they are intense enough, have the capacity to kill a person. I believe however that most people people who die as a result of their dreams have an underlying health problem that would have killed them when they were awake.
There are cases however where fear can actually kill someone, even a completely healthy individual.

If fear can kill when one is awake, I would assume that fear can kill in a dream.
