What is Typosquatting?

I see this term on the net, what does Typosquatting or Typo squatting mean?

If there is a popular domain like cake.com and you create a domain called "cakw.com" then that is typosquatting. Domain sharks usually do this hoping that you finger accidentally hits the "w" rather than the "e" in cake.com because if you do then you get taken to their web site instead which most times is either a duplicate or similar web site to the original.
