Stuart Archer Cohen's novel is set in a near-future United States that has undergone an economic collapse. It's the story of three characters. Lando is a Seattle urban guerrilla devoted to violent resistance. Emily is a political organizer in Seattle trying to build a mass movement. And James Sands, a billionaire and government crony, intent on preserving his empire at all costs.
So far the novel captures all the excitement and exhilaration of a group taking on the state, as well as the terrifying consequences.
I like that Cohen did his research both in the United States and in Buenos Aires by interviewing radicals, political organizers, and survivors of the Argentine guerrilla movements of the 70s.
