The Naked Body
Do you believe you can reach the stage of spiritual awareness that not even the site of a naked body in front of you could stir emotion? Why such a question? I spend many hours on the net, and although I stay clear of porn and other similar material - I still find it pops up now and again through Emails, deceptive sites and so forth, BUT as soon as I see the pictures I delete it and do not give it a thought, it brings no emotion, no temptation to continue. What are your thoughts?
I think watching a naked body brings emotion to any individual: some excitement, others disgust, others shock...but it always brings some sort of emotion unless a person is used to watch hundred of naked bodies and pretty much is "used to it". But answering your question, I think anybody can reach a spiritual level where matters of the flesh are not longer important.
I believe we come to this Earth with some strengths and some weaknesses that we have developed in our pre-mortal life. For some people, things like pornography or sexual sins in general are things they never had a problem with, others struggle and may continue struggling with those issues for most part of their lives.
I think if you have seen it enough, you see it not for the sexuality but for the humanity. An example was that given by LDS - one of doctors. And when I've seen my wife giving birth, the naked body was quite different than in other circumstances. And I seriously doubt that the other people in that room (doctors and nurses, we didn't hold a party) had any sexual feelings at all.
Thus I think it comes to maturity and one's desires.
I think for the Men out there, it is safe to say: It is better to avoid, as much as humanly possible, the very appearance of evil, then to try to test how much we can handle. There will always be situations where temptation occurs, but I have always found that spiritual maturity does not always protect us if we find ourselves in bad situations, if we do not run like Hell(no profanity intended) as did Joseph.
I take as an example the Savior when Satan tempted him with all power after he had fasted for 40 days..
Luke 4:8
QUOTE |
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. |

my point is your reaction to it when it drops in your face as opposed to perusing it or lingering around it. |

You do not believe in that urban legend where mostly men get tempted and are somehow more sensual than women do you? |

I do not think it inappropriate to ask the Lord to remove images seen from ones mind, if that is possible, even when they were viewed on accident. |
