This is disturbing, specially considering the age of these young girls and boys. At age 12 or 13 they should be at school learning like any other kid. It broke my heart to read the account of this 13 year old girl who was hoping after her father removed her from school and forced her to marry a man in Pakistan that the school would search for her but they did not. She was assaulted, abused and raped by this guy and she had a baby. She is in hiding because the "husband" is following her.
It sounds to me that in these countries, they are praising pedophilia in the name of "culture and religion".
Yes very much so LDS_forever. As long as the parent and new family use the old laws and rules or marriage they will continue to do this. This has gone on for centuries and it is another thing that will be hard to put a end to. Just like trying to get rid of the slave market. It has gone under ground now but it is still out there
I'm sure most of these cases are about religion and culture, but I'm not convinced they all are, as when the girl returns to Britain married, usually her husband is allowed access also.
They usually return once the girl has reached 16, which is the minimum required age of marriage in the UK (with parental permission)
Either way, if it's not what the girl wants, it's very sad.
