It is a great freedom to be able to spend ones own money to support causes that he or she believes in. This should not be a reflection of his or her religion but an expression of ones freedom of speech and freedom of commerce.
I hope people keep getting angry at the Church for their support of Prop 8. It is not a bad thing for the Church to take a position that is controversial. I would not want it otherwise.
LDS Church defends itself against new allegations
The LDS Church is taking issue with new allegations by a California gay-rights activist who has said The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints understated the financial backing it gave to help pass a gay-marriage ban in California. A church spokesman says the accusations by Fred Karger, founder of Californians Against Hate, who alleges that the LDS Church played a role in establishing the National Organization for Marriage, are baseless. It seems like LDS Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was not pleased with the money the Church has used to stop gay marriage:
We believe in the freedom of speech in this country so whether he's mormon or not he has the right to speak his mind and I support his right to say so. I dont believe he will get in hot water though 'cause he said it in a private meeting.
