Despite Attacks on Catholics, They Vote to Re-Elect Obama
Despite a presidency that was based on attacks on Catholics, with aggressive promotion of abortion and attacks on religious liberty via the HHS mandate, President Barack Obama received the majority of Catholic votes on Tuesday.
Exit polling showed 25 percent of the electorate consisted of Catholic voters and they went for Obama by a 50-48 percentage point margin. Exit polls revealed that churchgoing Americans were more likely to vote for Romney and less frequent churchgoers sided with Obama. Ref. Source 8
Bishop: Catholic Church Will Defy Obama Abortion-HHS Mandate
The new Catholic bishop in Lincoln, Nebraska says the Catholic Church will openly defy the Obama-HHS mandate that compels religious groups and businesses to pay for drugs that may cause abortions.
From the story: "The Catholic Church is not going to back down," said Denver Auxiliary Bishop James Conley, who will start as the new bishop of the Lincoln Diocese on Nov. 20. "We are never going to compromise our principles. We will defy it and face the consequences." Ref. Source 9
Judge Dismisses One Catholic Lawsuit Against HHS Mandate
A federal judge has dismissed one of the dozens of lawsuits that religious groups and businesses have filed against the Obama administration over the HHS mandate that compels them to pay for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions.
A Pennsylvania federal district court dismissed the lawsuit filed by the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh and Catholic Cemeteries Association of Pittsburgh. Ref. Source 3

Obama is "Hugely Impressed" With Pope Francis, But the Pope Condemned Abortion
President Barack Obama says he is "hugely impressed" with Pope Francis's recent public statements - but apparently the president isn't paying much attention since the Pope has strongly condemned abortion.
Obama appears to be responding to misleading media presentations of the Pope's comments on the Catholic Church and abortion. The media wrongly reported that Pope Francis wanted to back off the issue of abortion when all he was saying is that the Catholic Church needs to help reconnect women who have had abortions to the Church. President Obama will travel to Vatican City on March 27 to meet Pope Francis, the White House announced today.
