As chancer74 said, he was not just raised as a Muslim, he was raised as an Islamic Extremist. Islam in itself is actually quite peaceful, and I have many ordinary muslim friends, but unfortunately, there are many Islamic factions (not at all dissimilar from FLDS and RLDS as an analogy) that have ruined the religion for the rest of the general membership of that faith. Obama was once part of that extremist group, Obama may still remember its teachings, and Obama may still be influenced by them.
Besides this, his political philosophies are entirely inappropriate. The democratic way is to reward those who have not worked hard for a reward. It punishes the people who work very hard in life to get ahead, and it rewards people that have not worked as hard. That being said, there are legitimate needs of certain people among the ranks of the poorer classes of society (of which I am a part), and these legitimate needs should be addressed (I do not have any). However, the liberal philosophy believes in personal unaccountability. It completely drains a society of the drive to work hard and be productive, an "Anti-Deseret" philosophy. We are instructed to "overcome the natural man," to dispose of our selfish desires; we are supposed to learn the value of hard work, not just wait for a government check in the mail.
Big governmental action to "spread the wealth" is just not the answer. To put it into terms that people on this thread might understand, its like saying to some pornography star "I'll let you take my place in the celestial kingdom that I have righteously sought for and I'll take your place in the telestial." This situation is obviously hypothetical, but it illustrates the point.
Sure does fulfil the prophesey in 2 Nephi about good being called evil and evil being called good.

I did not vote for Obama, but I do not believe he is a closet Muslim. I really wouldn't care if he was.
I am more concerned that he is an out of the closet Liberal (this is not a reflection of his Sexual orientation, just his Political one).
I have no disagreements with him on Spiritual grounds, as he seems to be a Family Man as well as a Good Husband. I just could not support him based on his positions on the life issue, Taxes, and various issues with the War on Terror/ Defence issues. These have little to do with me being a Mormon.
Now that he is my President I wish him well, and hope that he leads our country in righteousness.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency, and Elder M. Russell Ballard, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will be representing the Church at the swearing ceremony on January 20th.
President Monson also stated:

"It is always an honor for the Church to be represented at the inauguration of a new president," said President Monson. "We send our best wishes to President-elect Obama and pray for the blessings of a loving Father in Heaven to be upon him and his administration." |
There is nothing wrong with a Muslim, or a "closet" Muslim, becoming President. However, Mr. Obama went to a church for over twenty years where overt racism was a basic tenet. His Pastor is a very well documented racist and radical.
I hope, and pray, that Mr. Obama does well. We will just have to see what happens.

Name: Rust
Comments: Pres Obama isn't even black, he's like 6% black. I love the church, the gospel, and this country. I hate how Satan and his followers easily find ways to divide us, as a nation, as a church. I don't feel like our government is in good hands. Living the law of the land assures our freedom, what if our freedom is being taken form us, gradually? gods law first. Then mans law if it doesn't contradict gods law.
