A few "next" moves...
Looks like the Obama Administration has learned the car business in a few months and apparently advertising and distribution centers are not a requirement for sales! Since the took the money, it now become readily apparent that there are a LOT of strings attached:

So, they come in and slash 50% of the advertising budget. Interesting! Not to mention, they close 800 dealerships. Now I can kind of see the reason that they wouldnt need to spend as much on advertising, but it really doesnt show up in any of this analysis. The car industry is not entirely to blame for this condition. The auto sales slump is directly a response to the mortgage crisis and economy in general. Until the economy REALLY turns around, a car is the first descretionary expenditure (unless your car fails completely) that you can regulate to maintain control of your finances. If you car runs, you dont need that 3 or 5 year upgrade...keep it going another year. People will continue to do this until the economy is definitely on the mend and no quantity of advertising will change that...I am just not sure that the Federal Government, which as a business runs $11 trillion dollars in the red, is in the proper spot to be dictating sound business practices.
Mt DEW...public enemy #1!
The administration is also working on a tax for sodas and high sugar content soft drinks to pay for health care overhaul. Dangerous precident here...next...tax meat by the fat content, milk by fat %, cerial by sugar content, nuts will get a luxury tax... Hey, I got news for them...they ALREADY tax the cola. There is a sales tax on the stuff already. Yes, it goes to the state so take it from them!

Folks, it is pretty plain to see that the plans of this adminstration will be paid for by your tax dollar and do not think for a moment it is only coming from the rich. The rich will pay but it is only a matter of time before the "messiah" tells us that he is going to have to lower the definition of rich...again...and this time it will include you.

So they desire to increase the health of the population why stuffing the coffers?
Will we see a decrease in the tax on veggies and fish? After all would that not encourage people from buying the cheaper sugar/fatty foods?
I have to agree it is just a ploy to grab tax monies to offset the expenditures on the auto industry and the over all drop in tax monies being brought in due to the increased UI rates.

The government hauls in $2.5 Trillion USD in income tax. You might think that if someone had the slightest idea on how to run a business, they could make that work. Not our government, we overspend by over a $1 Trillion USD. And if we do actually have a budget that nets a positive (like during some of the Clinton years), we dont pay off the debt! No, No...that would be stupid...we call it a surplus. And what do we do with surpluses of food or other material goods. Why we try to give them away! And that is how our government works. Dont worry, we will all soon be in the rich catagory and taxed to high heaven. I have heard from friends that work in the tax business that they have info that suggests that the term rich will be lowered from households that make over 250K per year to about 120K per year. Folks, that isnt rich. It is well off, but it sure isnt rich. Keep it up...the rich will leave this country and then guess who will have to make up that deficit in income tax.

Howard Zinn: "I Wish Obama Would Listen to MLK"
Legendary historian Howard Zinn joins us to talk about war, torture and the teaching of history. Zinn says Obama had Obama heeded the lessons of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., he wouldn't be escalating US attacks abroad and increasing the size of the US military budget. We also play excerpts of the forthcoming documentary, The People Speak, featuring dramatic readings based on Zinn's A People's History of the United States and Voices of a People's History of the United States. Obama: Inflation is coming
Here is what President Obama actually had the nerve to say at a town-hall meeting in Rio Rancho, New Mexico: "We can't keep on just borrowing from China. We have to pay interest on that debt, and that means we are mortgaging our children's future with more and more debt." Hmmm, where have we heard that sentiment before -- oh, that's right, at the TEA PARTIES! Is this guy serious? He starts the biggest federal spending program in history as his main solution to getting out of this financial mess, then turns around and says we have to stop deficit spending? This sounds suspiciously like multiple personality disorder. Ref. Source 5
I wonder if that means that he (Obama) actually took the tea parties serious. To be able to quote from the tea parties means he, or someone in his admin, paid attention to what we were upset about. Now we will have to see if he will actually do something to change his current policy.
He's just talking. Yes, he's heard what the tea parties were all about, so he's going to parrot the "talk" but not do the "walk." Don't expect anything to actually "change."
I saw a T-shirt the other day that said, "I see your lips moving, but all I hear is blah blah blah."
