In my observation as an outsider, based on what I read online there seems to be such a *huge* Anti-Obama sentiment among US citizens that makes me wonder whether this President would be able to finish or not his term. I hope he does, for the people's sake but I find that he is so scrutinized that people jump at every little thing he does or he doesn't. I have never seen something like this.

Obama Takes Over Where Bush Left Off
By Mike Whitney
Barack Obama is aggressively stepping up the war in Afghanistan. He's intensified the cross-border bombing of Pakistan and he is doubling the number of U.S. Troops to 68,000 by 2010. He's also a strong proponent of pilotless drones even though hundreds of civilians have been killed in bombing raid blunders. Ref. Source 5
This is pretty well status quo for a new president. Many of the promises that they have to make to get elected are not grounded in reality and when those that support the ideas behind those promises start to feel cheated...they cry. Clinton, Bush, Reagan all got blasted by the media after they took office. I dont think I have seen a media more against someone than they were GWB. Now he did give them good reason, but he by far was the most unpopular. As far as Obama, they really are just "kicking the tires" as we might say. I honestly would say the media has been pretty easy on this guy...VERY EASY ON HIM. He still has a high approval rating and there is little out there that says he wont finish his term. Mater of fact, it is almost a guarantee that he gets a second term if the economy just stays here and doesnt worsen.
He is having to "smartly" back track on some of his transparency promises and the gitmo thing...not to mention the prison pics. Being the one responsible for a uprising that kills several troops will do that to you.
The gays arent happy, stem-cell fans are happier - but want more, the healthcare fanatics are restless, conservatives are looking for a party and dont like the current fiscal direction and oops..he is bombing Afghanistan (a lot) so the anti-war people are a bit miffed...this guy cannot please everyone, but he is more than trying (right or wrong).
Most of the "tea parties" are fiscal conservatives that are very unhappy with the deficit and debt of the country. They are tired of bailing out everyone and watching executive officers cart out millions. They dont think that they should have to pay more taxes as the government gets enough as it is. They just dont know to budget it. They dont want to see our government firing CEO's or owning banks. These people really dont have a party anymore. John McCain was not a conservative and he tried to make that group happy with Palin. She was at least a conservative and it did help. The conservative movement put Reagan into the White House and kept GWB there (although they went happy after the first term). They have lost the party to the Christian Right and moderates. This is a powerful group and they are not happy with the current course of the government and their own party.

Well I am glad he has encouraged more fuel efficient cars to bad he did not force the idea of diesel vs gasoline engines. Still a positive step forward.

Obama, Cheney jab over security
WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama fought yesterday to retake command of the emotional debate over closing Guantanamo, denouncing "fear-mongering" by political opponents and insisting that maximum-security prisons in the United States can safely house dangerous terror suspects transferred from Cuba. I think he is right on this one if you have people who have committed crimes against the States they should be housed there. I think the reality is they just do not desire to give up a location where hostile irrigation can occur with out repercussions.
