From the time Al Gore was given one, that award lost any respect it ever had for me but at least he worked, Obama is being awarded for "good intentions".

Defending Obama's Nobel award
President Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize presented a clear opportunity for bipartisan support on the ridiculousness of it all. But, of course, that's not what happened. Supporters of the President hit the news networks to talk about how, after just 11 days of his presidency, President Obama 'deserved' the award. Donna Brazile says the award is "well deserved," yet at the same time said he "must earn it." Don't spend too long trying to figure out how that one works...it doesn't. Ref. Source 1
Obama seeks aid for seniors
WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama urged Congress to provide $250 payments to 57 million seniors, veterans and people with disabilities as the Social Security Administration prepared to announce today that recipients will not see an increase in their benefit checks for the first time in three decades. President Barack Obama Criticized as Going Too Slow on Judicial Nominees
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- President Barack Obama has already named abortion advocates to the Supreme Court and other federal courts, but pro-abortion activists say he is going too slow and could have named more appointees. The pro-abortion activists are beginning to blame his administration for moving too tentatively on what they consider a key priority. During his first nine months in office, Obama has won confirmation in the Democratic-controlled Senate for just three of his 23 nominations for federal judgeships, largely because Republicans have done what little they could by way of holds and filibuster threats to stop them. The activists say Obama has ben to willing to accommodate the Republicans and he needs to do more to railroad his nominees through the Senate. "It is incumbent on the Democrats and the White House to push as hard as they can to confirm judicial nominees, given that next year Republicans will make an all-out effort to block candidates as a means to gin up their base before the election," said Nan Aron, president of the Alliance for Justice, a liberal advocacy organization. The White House predicts that nominations and confirmations will pick up soon. "The administration has been working closely with members of Congress to identify a set of uniquely qualified judicial nominees with diverse professional experiences," said Ben LaBolt, an Obama spokesman. "This process has been bipartisan and we have made every effort to make confirmation wars a thing of the past." The White House blames the delays on the need to focus on the Sonia Sotomayor nomination to the Supreme Court and health care. Currently, about 90 judicial seats -- about 10 percent of the total -- remain vacant in appeals and district courts and when Obama's nominees are confirmed, it will bring about a wide pro-abortion change in the mindset of some courts.
Awarding Good Intentions? Giving Pro-Abortion Obama the Nobel Prize is Wrong
by Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer
I am not the only one who sees a strange anomaly in the Oslo committee awarding Mr. Obama the Nobel Peace Prize last week. Considering that his actual nomination had to have taken place before February 1st when he was not even two weeks in office, he could not have possibly done anything to merit this award and he certainly hasn't done anything since! In fact, the winner of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize is the shameless leader of the war against unborn children around the world; his alliance with Planned Parenthood testifies vocally to his pro-death agenda, not to mention his wiping out of the Mexico City Policy to fund the death peddlers around the world. His administration's debates about whether to send 40,000 more troops into Afghanistan seem mildly aggressive in comparison to the war against babies. It is just astounding to think that neither Mahatma Gandhi nor Pope John Paul II received this Prize in their lifetimes, a fact that speaks volumes about the Scandinavians' sense of what constitutes true peace-making. Keep in mind that American policies can have huge consequences around the world. Ref. Source 6
